Successful Education Career Fair and Mock Interview Night

Teacher Education students had the opportunity to network and practice interviewing at the career fair and mock interview night on March 12. Students had the chance to network first; then, they focused on refining their skills and gaining confidence for real-life job interviews.

This newly created event combined networking and interviewing to allow school districts to meet and engage with Roberts Wesleyan University teaching candidates.

“We are grateful for the industry partners who volunteered their time to network and help our students become better interviewers,” said Dean of the School of Education and Social Work Adam Huck.

The Career Development and Teacher Education teams organized the event to help students prepare for the job market. Mary Flaherty from Career Development and Amy Polisseni and Jennifer Dorr from Teacher Education were instrumental in making this event possible, emphasizing professional networking for our students with education experts in the Greater Rochester area.

A total of 22 industry partners attended, including school districts, BOCES and charter schools. Steve Kruger, assistant superintendent from Geneva City School District, said, "I have been to several career fairs in the area, and this one by far had the strongest teacher candidates."
