Nursing Department News

New Frontiers Explored

The Division of Nursing has experienced a rewarding and challenging year launching graduate work in nursing at Roberts!  Three cohort groups are currently underway in the Master of Science in Nursing Administration degree program. The first group completed their work during the summer of 2007.   Its been a pleasure to work with alumni from our undergraduate programs and make new acquaintances with nurses who are advancing their careers.  The fourth graduate cohort started in early fall.  Faculty and students have been energized through course work and projects dealing with, for example, falls prevention, injury prevention, improving communication, and mentoring new nurses into their first nursing role.

More exciting news…a new degree program leading to a Master of Science in Nursing Education has been approved.  This degree program, designed to prepare nurses for faculty and staff development roles, uses the adult-learner, time-shortened approach so that working RN’s can complete their degree in approximately 18 months.  Those who already have a master’s degree in nursing and would like to teach nursing may be interested in a post-masters certificate in nursing education also available in the Division of Nursing.  With the looming, well-documented nursing shortage and the severe shortage of nurse educators, Roberts is poised to make a difference in health care by preparing those who will teach and support tomorrow’s nurses.  For more information call 585-594-6686 or visit http://www.roberts.edu/Academics/Divisions/Nursing.

Giving Back

Giving Has Never Been Easier

Many people have discovered the positive aspects of online banking, which save significant time and money and help them have more control over their finances. Perhaps you are enjoying this convenient way of doing business.

Donors to charity are also able to take advantage of the speed, simplicity, and cost savings by making contributions electronically. Roberts Wesleyan College and Northeastern Seminary are pleased to offer our constituents these convenient and secure ways to give in support of our students. One option is to “surf” on the World Wide Web to the College or Seminary’s website and find the link to “give online.” The web pages for online giving are available at roberts.edu or nes.edu by clicking on the alumni tab (RWC - http://www.roberts.edu/alumni/Donations/; NES - http://www.nes.edu/Alumni/Donations/). Simply provide the information requested, make your gift, and the lives of students will be impacted quickly and easily. Another very helpful option for donors is to request that contributions be automatically transferred to the College or Seminary by “Electronic Funds Transfer” (EFT). This method allows the donor to give consistently without having to write a check, address an envelope, add a stamp, and drop it off at the post office. Even seemingly smaller amounts, when given monthly, add up significantly over time, and the donor’s funds are not impacted by one larger contribution all at once. To request an EFT form, please contact Marna Distaffen at 585.594.6535 or distaffenm@roberts.edu (eventually we will have this option available online too, but until then….)

Thanks for your consideration and support.

 Sincerely,

 Todd
