Campus Fire Safety & Security

Roberts Wesleyan College is located in North Chili, a quiet but growing residential community. Our location, which is approximately 20 minutes west of the city of Rochester, allows our students a suburban setting campus with the advantages of a major city.

At Roberts, as it is referred to, our primary focus is the safety of all who visit our campus, be it student, faculty, staff, Voller community, or visitor. As a campus community all areas within the campus work together to help ensure that we provide the best possible security for all.

To assist in making Roberts a safe campus, rules and regulations have been established. Enforcement of these rules and regulations by the Security Department help to maintain a safe environment. The Security Department, which is the “Law Enforcement” on campus, consists of eight unarmed, state licensed officers who are trained to meet and exceed the standards of the state. These officers are vested with law enforcement authority as Security Guards as cited in the General Business Law, Article 7A Section 170.1. They also receive special in-service training as dictated by the College. The campus has an officer on duty 24 hours each day/seven days per week for safety enforcement, to respond to emergency situations, and for assisting those in need. In addition, the campus partners with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the Ogden Police Department. and local fire districts in our area to provide a complete and thorough protection package. A communication network has been created throughout the Campus to alert, in a timely manner, all those who need to know if a threat or a safety situation arises.

Crime Statistic information is compiled by our Security Department and submitted to the New York Education Department for State and Federal statistics. The Advisory Committee on Campus Safety will provide, upon request, all campus crime statistics as reported to the U.S. Department of Education. You may also view this info by visiting http://www.ope.ed.gov/security. Questions regarding this information may be directed to the Director of Campus Security, Byron Hill.

Please enjoy your visit to our campus. Our goal is to provide you with a safe and enjoyable visit.
