ROBERTS HOSTS DISTINGUISHED CHAIR

The Davison Gallery announces its newest exhibition coming in March 2010, Presence/Absence...new work by Bruce Herman. This fully endowed chair of the art department at Gordon College, has exhibited in over 50 solo and group exhibitions in the past 26 years, and is the recipient of numerous awards and grants. Since 1983, Herman's art is published or is featured in over 50 publications. A sought-after guest lecturer, Herman will speak at the Davison Gallery for his opening reception on Monday, March 1 at 5:45 p.m., and again on Tuesday, March 2, in conjunction with the Roberts Wesleyan College conference, Speaking of Faith: Conversations Across Diverse Communities. Herman's work, with its rich surface texture, reveals an intimacy with the art-making process, a process that evokes what the artist describes as "beauty and ruination."
