Merit Scholarships

There are a variety of scholarships we provide based on merit. These will be reflected in your final award letter.

Art Scholarship

Awards are made each year to talented students who show promise in art. 

Requirements:

  • Satisfactory academic records and unusual proficiency in art.
  • Art portfolio review with the art faculty.
  • Pursuing a degree within the Department of Visual Arts:
    • Art Education
    • Digital Media Art
    • Graphic Design
    • Printmaking
    • 3D (Ceramics & Sculptures)
    • 2D (Drawing, Painting, and Printmaking)
    • Photography
    • Studio Art

These awards are renewable based on satisfactory achievement and good standing within the college.

Music Scholarship (Full Tuition Guarantees Available)

Awards are made each year to talented students who show promise in music ranging from $1,000 to $6,000.

Scholarships are granted based on:

  • Performance level.
  • Potential to succeed in the Music Department.

These awards are renewable based on satisfactory academic and musical achievements along with good standing within the college.

Additionally there are two-full tuition scholarships awarded each year to the most skilled musicians who audition.

Young Life

Young Life students can receive $4,000 over four years at Roberts Wesleyan College. Detailed information can be found on the Young Life Scholarship page.

Free Methodist Scholarship

Students who are active members in a Free Methodist Church are eligible for up to a $1,000 scholarship.

First in Family Farash Foundation Scholarship (Full Tuition Guarantees Available)

The Max and Marian Farash Charitable Foundation provides scholarships for:

  • Entering Freshmen
  • From Monroe or Ontario Counties (New York State)
  • First in family to attend college (parents, step-parents, or siblings)

Black Scholars Scholarship

All Black Scholar graduates will be awarded award an additional $1,000 each year. This award is only for incoming freshmen.

The Black Scholars program is offered through the Urban League of Rochester. The program identifies Black Scholars from school districts in Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, and Wayne counties. Eligible students should mention in their application that they are a Black Scholar recipient.

Alumni Scholarship

Students whose mom or dad are alumni of Roberts Wesleyan College will receive a $1,000 scholarship each year.

Eligible students should mention in their application that their parents are graduates of the college. 

Golden Apple Scholarship (Teacher Education)

Roberts Wesleyan College has joined forces with News 8 and Advantage Federal Credit Union to award a $10,000 Golden Apple Scholarships to one incoming undergraduate teacher education student. Detailed information can be found on the Golden Apple Scholarship application page.

Roberts Merit Scholarship

The Roberts Merit Scholarship awards full-tuition scholarships (minus other RWU, federal, and state grants and scholarships) to National Merit Scholar Finalists.

This award is renewed annually, provided the student maintains at least a 2.8 cumulative grade point average. The following criteria apply to first-time freshmen applicants:

  • National Merit Scholar Finalist for full-tuition
  • Character consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan University
