Merit Scholarships

There are a variety of scholarships we provide based on merit. These will be reflected in your final award letter.

Achievement Scholarship

Achievement Scholarships are available to students who demonstrate academic excellence and significant involvement in church, school and/or community activities.

New students receive consideration based on information presented in their admission application, including recommendations. The amount of the scholarships vary. Achievement Scholarships cannot be combined with other Roberts Wesleyan College academic scholarships.

Honors Program Participation Scholarship

Recipients must be invited by the Honors Council to join the Honors Program and then be recommended for the scholarship of up to $2,000.

Students must maintain good standing in the Honors Program for this scholarship to be renewable. This scholarship will be awarded on top of the student’s academic award.

Art Scholarship

Awards are made each year to talented students who show promise in art. 

Requirements:

  • Satisfactory academic records and unusual proficiency in art.
  • Art portfolio review with the art faculty.

Scholarships available for 2014-2015 include:

  • 1 scholarship in the amount of $6,000 per year
  • 2 scholarships in the amount of $5,000 per year
  • 6 scholarships in the amount of $3,000 per year
  • 3 scholarships in the amount of $2,000 per year

These awards are renewable based on satisfactory achievement and good standing within the college.

Music Scholarship

Awards are made each year to talented students who show promise in music ranging from $500 to $6,000.

Requirements:

  • Satisfactory academic records and unusual proficiency in music.
  • Music audition and music theory exam.

Young Life

Young Life students can receive $4,000 over four years at Roberts Wesleyan College. Detailed information can be found on the Young Life Scholarship page.

Free Methodist Scholarship

Students who are active members in a Free Methodist Church are eligible for up to a $2,000 scholarship.

Dollars for Scholars

Roberts Wesleyan College is proud to be part of this Collegiate Partners program.

We match Dollars for Scholars chapter awards, raised by community volunteers (mostly through local high schools), up to $750 per recipient.

Black Scholars Scholarship

Roberts Wesleyan College will award $1,000 each year for any Black Scholar graduate.

The Black Scholars program is offered through the Urban League of Rochester. The program identifies Black Scholars from school districts in Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, and Wayne counties. Eligible students should mention in their application that they are a Black Scholar recipient. 

NEW for entering students for the 2015-16 school year Black Scholars will now receive the $7,000 Dean’s Scholarship.

First in Family Farash Foundation Scholarship

The Max and Marian Farash Charitable Foundation provides scholarships for:

  • Entering Freshmen
  • From Monroe or Ontario Counties (New York State)
  • First in family to attend college

Alumni Scholarship

Students whose mom or dad are alumni of Roberts Wesleyan College will receive a $1,000 scholarship each year.

Eligible students should mention in their application that their parents are graduates of the college. 

Ibero-American Action League Scholarship

Roberts Wesleyan College will award $1,000 each year for any Ibero-American Action League Scholarship recipients.

Eligible students should mention in their application that they are part of the Ibero-American Action League.

NEW for entering students for the 2015-16 school year Ibero-American Action League scholars will now receive the $7,000 Dean’s Scholarship.
