Accreditation

All clinical training programs are accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS). They conform to the Standards established by NAACLS which is sponsored by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) and the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS).

What Will I Learn?

You will spend the first 3 years taking basic science and general education classes at Roberts. Then, for your final year, you will be in clinical training at a hospital affiliate to gain hands-on, real-world experience.

Upon graduation:

  • You will be eligible to take the board of registry exam given by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. Passage of the exam results in national board certification.
  • You will also be eligible for licensure through the N.Y.S. Education Department Office of the Professions.

In the 4th year, you will have clinical training at one of the following:

  • Rochester General Hospital, Rochester NY
  • UPMC Chautauqua WCA Hospital in Jamestown, NY
  • New York Methodist Hospital, Brooklyn, NY

Who Will I Meet?

Dr. Cynthia Davis, Professor of Biology, Medical Technology Program Director

We are pleased to have Dr. Davis as a part of our faculty. She received her Ph.D. in Biology from Dartmouth College. She loves science and how the world fits together! Her research interests are in genetics, specifically saccharomyces cerevisiae (also known as brewers or bakers yeast) and the gene Slk19. Dr. Davis along with current students are studying the proteins functioning in the pathway responsible for correct segregation of chromosomes during meiosis.

She is also a member of the Genetics Society of America and The American Society for Cell Biology. To read more about Dr. Davis, click here.
