Medical Technology

The B.S. in Medical Technology will give you the opportunity to prepare for a rewarding career in an environment that will foster both your academic and spiritual development.

  • You will spend the first 3 years taking basic science and general education classes at Roberts.
  • During the fall of your third year at Roberts you will apply to the medical technology program. Qualified applicants will have a minimum cumlative GPA of 3.0.
  • In the 4th year of the program, clinical training will be aquired at one of the following hospital affiliates; Rochester General Hospital, Rochester NY or at UPMC Chautauqua WCA Hospital in Jamestown, NY, New York Methodist Hospital, Brooklyn, NY.
  • All clinical training programs are accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS). They conform to the Standards established by NAACLS which is sponsored by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) and the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS).
  • Upon completion of the year of training at the hospital, you will earn a BS in Medical Technology from RWC.
  • Students are then eligible to take the board of registry exam given by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. Passage of the exam results in national board certification. Graduates are also eligible for licensure through the N.Y.S. Education Department Office of the Professions.
