Introduction to Intelligence

You will be introduced to the Intelligence Process as it relates to Law Enforcement and Crime Analysis. You will gain an understanding on how critical thinking, along with skills related to data mining, examination and dissemination, is a crucial component in the process of criminal investigations, and intelligence and crime analysis. By the end of the class, you will be able to identify a crime problem and respond with effective strategies.

Data Mining

This course explores data mining as a tool in intelligence gathering and predictive analysis, both in the private sector and in law enforcement.   It includes coverage of some of the principal methods used for data mining. You will get hands-on experience with data mining through projects for local agencies. By the end of the class, you'll know how to identify data patterns and present the results to enable decision making.

Terrorism Policy and Law

This course analyses the major areas of law relating to terrorism and the United States’ efforts to combat terrorism through law enforcement, intelligence gathering and military action.  A constant theme explored throughout the course will be how the United States can effectively combat and neutralize domestic and international terrorism while, at the same time, remaining true to its democratic and constitutional principles.  By the end of the class, you will understand all issues surrounding terrorism.
