Introduction to Music Theory

Begin your adventure into learning how music works! Build a foundation for understanding the basics of music theory with the RCMS Introduction to Music Theory class. Introduction to Music Theory is an exciting and fun class that helps you learn the basics of music theory. Whether you have some knowledge of theory or if it is entirely new to you, there is something to be discovered. This class will help you begin to understand the “how’s” and “why’s” behind a piece of music. Some of the topics covered include notation reading, scales, intervals, chords and chord structure, harmonic progressions, and cadences.

Prerequisites: Students must be able to read basic notes, and have experience singing or playing an instrument. This class is open to 8th-12th graders and adults. 

Fall Term 2022:

5:30 - 6:30 p.m. every Monday

Price: $15 registration fee,  $300/term OR $250/term for students enrolled in individual private lessons
