Message to Parents from the Roberts Restart Team

Greetings from the Roberts Restart Team. We have had a great Fall semester, and as we head into the Thanksgiving holiday and the virtual end of the semester, we wanted to give you a few updates from campus.

Campus Status. On Monday, November 9, the campus moved to a Yellow alert level in response to changes in Monroe County. While we still have a very limited number of cases on our campus, the designation of the Rochester area as a microcluster by NYS required this change. At this time, we still anticipate that we will begin the Spring semester on time and on campus in January, but our ability to do so will depend on how well the Rochester region is able to get the rising Covid-19 cases under control. If our region moves to an orange or red zone designation, we may not be able to hold in-person classes for a time. The Restart Team continues to monitor both our campus cases and the greater region and will keep the campus informed about any changes. You can also find information about Covid-19 on campus at www.roberts.edu/roberts-restart

Travel Guidelines. On November 4, new travel guidelines went into effect in New York. Students traveling outside the state over break should be aware of the new guidelines and have time to either quarantine or get a negative Covid-19 test before returning to campus. You can read more about the guidelines at https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/covid-19-travel-advisory.

Testing. Before students left for break, we hosted a free Covid-19 testing clinic on campus. All students were encouraged to participate before leaving campus. The clinic was hosted by the Roberts Restart Team, the School of Nursing, and the Roberts Health Center.

Planning for Spring. Though we have several weeks left in the fall semester, Restart has been busy planning for spring. At this time, we anticipate the current guidelines continuing into the Spring 2021 semester. We plan to begin the semester on January 20 back on campus. Other announcements about testing before returning to campus and additional strategies to ensure a safe return in the spring will be forthcoming.

You can submit questions about our Covid-19 response plan to the Restart team at restart@roberts.edu.
