Roberts Launches Westside Psychological Services

Center to provide psychological services to local residents and families

Roberts Wesleyan College is pleased to announce the launch of Westside Psychological Services, effective today. Located on the Roberts Wesleyan College campus, the training clinic serves the local community as a referral source for a broad range of psychological assessments and therapeutic intervention and consultation services for children, adolescents, families and adults. With the addition of this facility, Roberts Wesleyan College will join with other Rochester health care providers to enhance psychological service offerings that better meet the needs and accessibility of families that reside on the West Side of Rochester.

The training clinic’s services include clinical and school-based psychological evaluations, as well as consultation, training and therapeutic intervention. The facility is staffed by licensed psychologists working alongside Roberts Wesleyan College doctoral students specializing in clinical and school psychology. Daytime, evening and weekend hours are available, with services provided within a low-cost sliding-scale fee structure.

Dr. Alysa MacMillen has been appointed clinical director and assumed her role on Sept. 11. MacMillen, alongside psychology faculty at the college, supervises a rich training program for Roberts Wesleyan doctoral students while also extending a wide range of evidenced-based intervention services and techniques to address the referral needs of the community at large.MacMillen earned her doctorate in clinical/school psychology from Roberts Wesleyan College in 2020.

“Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s become increasingly more important that we focus on the mental health needs and well-being of our students and the greater community,” said Cheryl Repass, psychology chair and executive director of Westside Psychological Services at Roberts Wesleyan College. “We’re excited to join with other esteemed Rochester providers to enhance psychological services and offerings, providing a local, accessible location to better meet the needs of residents and families on the west side of Rochester.”

Westside Psychological Services is the latest addition The Community Institutes at Roberts Wesleyan College, which provide certificate and competency-based programs customized for specific training needs and serve the community as a distinctive hub of learning. Other institutes include Justice and Security, Business Solutions, English Language, and Intellectual and Spiritual Humility institutes.
