Fall Redhawks Report

Like all of us, the COVID19 pandemic has indwelled the words “new normal” permanently into our vocabulary.

The energy on campus that had been missing since March has ramped up since we welcomed the freshman class to campus on August 21st. I enjoy seeing our 299 student-athletes participating with their teammates in work-outs and following our phased approach to resocialization across 16 varsity sports and 4 JV teams.

We have been blessed with wonderful late summer and early fall weather.  This has allowed all of our athletic teams to participate safely in training outside.

We have postponed all competitions for fall sports, as well as delayed the start of winter sports. Working closely with the Roberts Restart team, the Federal, State and County guidelines, the NCAA, and the East Coast Conference, athletics presented a Redhawks Return to Play Plan for the fall and are working on a Redhawks SPRING back to Action plan for January.  We hope to compete in modified schedules in all our varsity sports in 2021

Athletics spent time over the pandemic break and summer to finalize our five-year Redhawks Athletics Strategy Map. I am proud of our team and the programming that we will continue to develop and deliver along with the initiatives we will be working towards in the future.  Coupled with the colleges’ Reimagining Undergraduate Programs and a focus on life skills and preparedness for Life after the Game, as we call it, we are excited to see this focus on Academic Success Programs, Leadership Development and Life Skills Training for student-athletes.

In case you have missed our Redhawks Respond video series, please take a moment to see how our coaches and student-athletes have risen to the occasion this fall.
