Roberts Restart Campus Update

Dear Parents,

This update from the Roberts Restart Team was sent to students today, and we thought you would want to see it, too.

Roberts and Northeastern Faculty and Staff,

You have likely heard about the growing number of Covid-19 cases in Monroe County and on local college campuses. The Restart Team is carefully monitoring the local climate and our current Covid-19 indicators on campus, and we are in regular contact with the Monroe County Department of Public Health. We have quick response plans ready if we have concerns about the spread of Covid-19 on our campus.

Some of you have asked about the accuracy of the numbers on our Covid-19 dashboard on our website. Our dashboard lists active cases from the last 14 days and includes both Roberts and Northeastern students and employees. You can see all cases reported to date by going to the New York State dashboard for Roberts or Northeastern. Please note, the testing numbers on these dashboards indicate only tests administered on our campus. We do not currently utilize our own health center for testing but have contracted with an outside vendor to conduct tests for our students. These are not reported on our state dashboard.

Here are the parameters for who is reported on our internal dashboard:

  • We report every positive case for any student or employee on our campus.
  • We do not report cases for students or employees who are entirely virtual this semester and who have not come to campus.
  • The only students or employees listed as quarantined on our dashboard are those who have been officially placed in quarantine by the Monroe County Department of Public Health. As many of you know, we place students in precautionary quarantine regularly while they are awaiting test results. Many of these students are not officially quarantined (which is prescribed by MCDPH), and therefore they are not included in our official quarantine numbers. We believe our commitment to precautionary quarantine is helping to keep our cases down.

While privacy laws prevent us from sharing information related to specific cases, if you have questions or concerns about our numbers or the health and safety of our campus community, please reach out and I will be happy to talk with you about it.

As a reminder, if a student contacts you about a Covid-19 diagnosis or quarantine, please direct the student to contact campus safety. This will ensure we are able to respond quickly to the situation. If you, yourself, are placed in quarantine or isolation, receive a positive diagnosis, or are otherwise unable to come to campus for a Covid-19 related reason, make sure you fill out the daily screening form with the appropriate information. Please also contact Erin Sirianni in HR for assistance in coordinating benefits, to discuss work from home or other accommodations, and to ensure you know what return to work documentation is required.

Thank you for the work you are doing to keep our campus healthy this fall. You will hear from the Roberts Restart team if we believe additional changes to our campus operations are warranted. We appreciate your diligence in following all physical distancing parameters, wearing masks at all times while on campus, and abiding by the campus Covid-19 guidelines.

Roberts Restart Team
