President Porterfield Named ATHENA Award Finalist

President Deana L. Porterfield has been selected as a finalist for the 34th Annual ATHENA International Award. The Women's Council, a Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce affiliate recently announced the 2020 finalists for this award.

The ATHENA Award celebrates women who have achieved professional success, given back to their community and have served other women professionals.  This award is celebrated around the world in more than 500 communities and eight countries.

“I am honored to be among the outstanding list of finalists for the 2020 award. During my career, I have worked hard to move organizations forward through a clear vision and strategy while hiring, developing and supporting a diverse workplace,” said Porterfield. "The greatest reward is watching a community come together for transformational change which impacts the future for the better."

President Porterfield's vision of the purpose of Christian higher education is to connect the student’s head to their heart and engage their hands in service to the world. This theme, “Head, Heart, Hands,” has been her passionate mantra since her arrival on campus, and she reiterates it often to all audiences.

It is obvious that her efforts have been effective as people love her and love to work for and with her.

The 2020 ATHENA Award finalists will be recognized at a special awards dinner on January 23, 2020 at the Floreano Convention Center. At the awards ceremony, the 2020 ATHENA recipient will be announced.

Congratulations to all the finalists! (view as PDF)
