Alumni Spotlight: Anna Antonopulos ’02 Pediatric Medicine

Anna wears many hats - she is a Sunday School teacher, a highly skilled tie-dye artist, an aunt that spoils her nieces and nephews, and a Pediatric Hospitalist.

Dr. Antonopulos attended Roberts from 1998 to 2002 and graduated with a degree in biology. After graduation, she went to medical school at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. After that, she did a three-year residency in pediatrics and a one-year fellowship in pediatric hospital medicine at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania.

Currently, Anna works in Southern Oregon caring for hospitalized children. Prior to that, she worked in Great Falls, Montana for four years. Along with being a pediatric hospitalist, she is also a child abuse pediatrician. She spends some of her clinical time at the local CAC (children's advocacy center--a place where children who have been abused go for medical exams, forensic interviews, and therapy).

Anna believes that her time at Roberts was essential for her career in medicine and for what she does now. “I am most thankful for the Christian education that I received at Roberts. Without having that foundation in my life, it would be very hard to do what I do on a daily basis. If I didn't have faith in a Heavenly Father, this profession would be hopeless.”

Anna is also grateful for the scholarship assistance she received at Roberts. “I came from a working-class family and my parents were not able to provide any assistance for college or medical school. Medical education is extremely expensive, so every little bit helped. Without scholarships, I would have had even more debt after medical school.”
