Greetings from Department Chair, Professor Kirby Trask

I extend departmental greetings to all alumni, students, and friends of the Criminal Justice program. The Rochester area is experiencing its first winter storm and two days ago we were enjoying sixty degree weather.  That’s Rochester!  Your Roberts’ family is off for Thanksgiving week and when we return to school students have two weeks of class remaining before final exams.  Please keep students in your prayers as they complete papers, projects, and study for final exams.

Our department is experiencing growth as a result of our newest degree program in Homeland Security and Applied Intelligence, which currently has 28 students. The program is interdisciplinary involving several other disciplines across campus, so much of the Roberts’ community is involved in this process.  Special thanks go out to Professor Mark Concordia who has spent countless hours ensuring the success of this program.

The Criminal Justice Club has been active with social events and extra-curricular activities, to include a massive bonfire and chili at my house a couple weeks ago. Stacey Castro and Nate Abbey have been doing an outstanding job providing leadership for the club.  During the spring semester members of the club will be participating in an Urban Criminal Justice trip to Boston, Massachusetts.

Full time and adjunct faculty members are busy teaching, presenting at conferences/forums, advising, developing new initiatives, and being a voice for justice in the greater Rochester area. Please keep each of our faculty and staff in your prayers as they balance work and family with endless opportunities.  As always, if you find yourself near the college, then please stop by for a visit.

Have a wonderful end of Fall and Winter season!
