A Fond Farewell

In June we will bid farewell to a friend, co-worker, and faithful administrative assistant to the math and science departments. Candie Pocock has served the math and science students and faculty for 15 years. How can we begin to describe all the work she has done calmly and diligently alongside of the departments? She has served three department chairs during her time at Roberts, (Barbara Rose, Jason Taylor, and Gary Raduns).

Below a faculty member and student share thoughts about Candie and her time at Roberts.

Candie is one of those remarkable people who are always ready to co-operate and help in any way possible. She had time to chat at lunch when we used to eat in the science library.  She had a quiet dignity that was always present when she was asked to get some photo copy work done or to type a test or find a lost document.

I am so thankful for Candie. Since my freshman year she has always greeted me with a kind Hello, always remembered my name, and always provided help in any way she can. It is clear to me that Candie cares for the students, and seeks to complete her job well. I am always thankful to receive the bi-monthly email from her address, kindly reminding us to turn in our time cards. Though she was busy, she took the time to make sure we received our paychecks. She will be greatly missed in Crothers!

At our recent department lunch the students and faculty honored Candie with words of appreciation, cards, and a beautiful gift basket. Candie and her husband, Carl, plan to be snow birds heading to Florida during Rochester’s wonderful winter months.

THANK YOU CANDIE and God’s richest blessings on your retirement!
