Brittany Walker'14 Featured Soloist on a European Tour

Brittany Walker ’14 was the featured soloist on a month-long tour of Europe with the Virginia State University Gospel Chorale in December, where she performed arias and songs in over 20 opera houses and concert halls including those in Rome, Milan, and Palermo, Italy; Brasov, Romania; and Budapest, Hungary. While at Roberts, Walker appeared often as soloist in performances with the Roberts Chorale and Orchestra, Opera Showcase, Great American Songbook, and Jazz Desserts.

A 2012 Roberts Concerto/Aria Competition winner, she performed as soloist with the Roberts Wesleyan College Community Orchestra (RWCCO), and sang the lead role of The Countess in the College's Opera production of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro and The Fairy Godmother in Cinderella with the Roberts Wesleyan College Community Theater (RWCCT). Walker has won top awards including first place at National Association of Teachers of Singing, Freeport Library Classical Recital Series, and Harlem Opera Theater Competitions.

Since her graduation, Walker made her professional opera debut in 2014 as Clara in Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess with Syracuse Opera, and created the lead role of Jess in the premiere of Darryl Nettles’ opera The Fall of Stag Lee with Buffalo Opera Unlimited.
