Roberts Community Mourns the Loss of Dr. Ruth McIntyre Sittig

The Roberts Wesleyan College community is saddened by the loss of Dr. Ruth McIntyre Sittig '45, Roberts Emerita Faculty, on Wednesday, January 20, 2016.  Dr. Sittig was an alumna of Roberts Junior College and served faithfully at Roberts from 1949-1981. Sittig served in many roles, including Registrar and Dean of Women and retired as a Professor of Sociology.

For most of her career, students lovingly referred to her as Miss Mac, even long after she had earned the title of Dr. McIntyre. Ruth was married to Roberts Wesleyan College Trustee, William K. Sittig in 1978. It is in honor of Dr. Ruth Sittig and Mr. William Sittig, that Roberts Sittig Hall residence on north campus is named.

A memorial service will be held at Park Ridge Free Methodist Church, Rochester, NY on Friday, January 29 at 12:00 noon.  Memorial donations may be made in Ruth’s memory to the Roberts Fund at Roberts Wesleyan College.
