Staff Spotlight: Jason Pulver

Jason Pulver Headshot

Meet Jason Pulver, a member of the Advancement team as the Director of Annual Giving. Jason knows all too well the importance of gifts to provide scholarships, support building projects, and athletics. These are just a few examples that alumni and friends purposefully give to make a difference for students at Roberts. Jason works hard behind the scenes; let’s learn more about him.

Why did you choose to work at Roberts?

I completed my undergraduate degree from Roberts in 2018 and had a fantastic experience including forming meaningful relationships with professors and staff who cared about me. I knew this place was special! Shortly after I graduated, I was looking for jobs and saw an opportunity on the Advancement team. Roberts already meant so much to me, but the thought of working where I can connect my faith and work excited me! It’s now four years later and I’m so glad God brought me back to my alma mater!

How would you explain your job to someone?

I usually start by saying I work in fundraising since most people don’t know what Advancement is. My role includes planning fundraising events, executing appeals, and connecting with alumni and donors. I love that I get to connect people’s financial resources to areas they are passionate about. Whether it’s student scholarships, a new building on campus, or mental health advocacy, I get to work with our constituents who want to give back to Roberts and make a difference!

What do you enjoy the most about your job?

I enjoy planning our annual One Day of Giving. It takes months of planning and execution from many departments on campus to raise money for student scholarships. Seeing the total amount raised by our community is rewarding. I relish connecting with our donors and hearing their stories and why they give back.

What is the best part of your workday?

Conversations in our “coffee nook”! Taking a short break to get some coffee and catch up with my coworkers brightens my day. I love that I work with people who care about my personal life just as much as my professional life.

How do you see your role connecting to the mission of Roberts?

My role is unique in that I get to work with students and alumni. I love that I get to supervise students helping them grow and develop, which is what we’re all here for; to serve our students. I also enjoy talking with alumni about their experiences at Roberts and how they can give back to our current students so they can help transform society. It’s a rewarding role in that I get to see students graduate, become alumni, and then give back to the place that meant so much to them. It’s a full-circle moment!

What are your interests outside of Roberts?

I love being outside and exploring the world. I enjoy hiking, biking, and camping. If I’m not in the woods, you can find me reading books about those same topics or playing board games. I also love going home to Naples, NY to see my family and friends!

What’s new in your role for the 23-24 academic year?

Our team has been exploring ways to make giving back to Roberts easier and more accessible for our donors. I’m spearheading a new donor portal that will help make the donor experience easier when they donate online.
