Micah 6:8 "...And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."
God desires for us to show our devotion to Him in three ways: outward (being just), inward (loving mercy), and upward (walking humbly). The most important three words in this verse is "with your God". It is not enough to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly if we do this in ways that are apart from the heart of God. We are called - or required, as it appears here in this verse - to show our devotion to Him through our actions, thoughts, and relationships with others. To emphasize this, I encourage you to read this text again, adding "with your God" after each verb so that it reads, "To act with your God justly and to love with your God mercy and to walk with your God humbly."
My prayer for you and your family is this:
Lord, may we look for ways to honor You in our relationships with others and in the community around us. Act with us, love with us, and walk with us as we explore the needs in this world and the intentions you have placed in our hearts. May Roberts continue to be a place that values and honors You, as our students are encouraged to demonstrate outward, inward, and upward devotion to You.
