Students Volunteer for RochesterCares’ King for a Day

Hundreds of local college students, including nearly 80 from Roberts Wesleyan College, participated in a day of volunteering on Saturday, Jan. 25, as part of RochesterCares’ annual King for a Day in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy. The day of service began with a kickoff event at East High School, with volunteers dispersing to several service project sites throughout the community.

King for a Day is part of the nationally recognized MLK Day of Service, which encourages Americans across the country to engage in volunteer activities in King’s honor. In Rochester, volunteers participated in service projects at more than 50 sites throughout the community. At Roberts, students served at community-based agencies and nonprofit organizations throughout the Greater Rochester area involved in the celebration.
