Roberts Mourns the Loss of Carol Kenyon

Carol B. Kenyon, Ph.D., RN

Brighton: Died peacefully on Sunday, July 22, 2018.  Predeceased by her sister Patricia Freitag and parents, Francis and Eleanor Blanchard. Survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Charles;  brother, Thomas Blanchard; several nieces and nephews.

Carol was blessed with a love of learning.  After completing a B.S. degree from Bucknell University, she served as a technician in renal failure research both in Philadelphia and the University of Rochester. She changed career paths, received three nursing degrees from the U of R and enjoyed a long successful career as a nurse educator.

While earning her advanced degrees, she chaired nursing programs at both Highland Hospital and Nazareth College. After completing her doctorate she was on the faculty of Roberts Wesleyan College for twenty years, serving as chair of the department for 14 years.

After retiring, she resumed her love of watercolor painting and spent many creative and happy hours taking classes at the Memorial Art Gallery and in her home studio. Inspiring students to learn was always a part of her life and she helped lead student craft projects at Cameron Community Center, and as a Literacy Volunteer, showed adults the joy of expanded language skills.

A celebration of Carol's life will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 10:30 AM at the Baptist Temple, 1101 Clover St., Rochester, followed by a light lunch. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Blanchard Nursing Scholarship Fund at Roberts Wesleyan College, the Baptist Temple Memorial Fund or the Hildebrandt Hospice Center.
