Singleton Takes Over As Head Women's Bowling Coach

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan women's bowling team will have a new face to lead the program in its third year.  Director of Athletics Bob Segave has announced that Marion Singleton has accepted the head coaching position and will be the second head coach in program history.

"We are thrilled to have coach Singleton join the Redhawks and lead our women's bowling team," said Segave. "With the success she's had in her coaching and playing background, I'm confident that Marion will have a positive impact on this young program. I'm excited to see the growth of the women's bowling program moving forward."

Singleton comes to the Redhawks from Daemen College where she was named head coach of the women's bowling team in May 2018 after serving as an assistant coach for the 2017-2018 season. While at Daemen the team captured tournament wins at the 2018 Molloy Invitational and 2018 Br. Pat Lacey Memorial Tournament. The Wildcats placed fourth in the East Coast Conference Championships.

Since 2010 Singleton has coached the boys and girls varsity bowling teams at Lockport High School. In her time there she led the girls team to back-to-back Niagara Frontier League Conference titles in 2016-2017 and 2017-2018. She also coached the team to several first place tournament finishes and had select members of the team compete as all-star participants in the Section VI State Championships.

During her competition days Singleton was a star bowler at Lockport HS, setting the program records and winning three New York State Public High School Athletic Association championships. Her success helped her earn a scholarship to compete on the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore women's bowling team. In her one season with the program Singleton was named Mid-Eastern Atlantic Conference MVP and she received third team All-American honors. Singleton transferred to Medaille College to finish her schooling where she earned three degrees.

Outside of coaching Singleton will work as a Special Education Teacher at East Rochester Middle Level Academy starting in September. Previously she worked in the same position at North Park High School in Lockport for five years.

The Redhawks finished 21-42 last season under head coach Heather D'Errico who resigned in the spring.
