Redhawks Who Soar

Roberts Wesleyan College is proud of its 17,737 living alumni. Roberts alumni are working in the fields of healthcare, social work, business, education, non-profits and entrepreneurship – to name a few! After graduation, the soul of Roberts stays with our alumni -- read these short updates to learn more about their lives after college.

Here are this month’s Redhawks Who Soar:

Kathy Phelps ‘15 (MSMK) was honored with the 2017 Rochester Business Journal Forty Under 40 Award on Nov. 16. The honorees are professionals younger than 40 who demonstrate leadership in the workplace and in the community. Phelps is the Vice President for Special Events, Public Relations at Dixon Schwabl.

Miriam M. Moore-Burt ‘11 (OM) ‘14 (MSL) was honored with the 2017 Rochester Business Journal Forty Under 40 Award on Nov. 16. The honorees are professionals younger than 40 who demonstrate leadership in the workplace and in the community. Moore-Burt is the VP of Racial Equity Programs at the YWCA in Rochester.

John Coyle ’09 (OM) is the vice president of healthcare at Seagate Alliance LLC – a national group purchasing organization. He focuses on cost reduction strategies and best practices; including reducing costs for health care. Coyle is currently enrolled in the master’s in health care management at Roberts. He was recently featured in the Rochester Business Journal

Richard Gaughran ’80 is an associate professor of English at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va. Gaughran specializes in 20th Century American Literature, Baseball Literature, Balkan Literature and Film Studies. He received his M.A. from Lehigh University in ’85 and a Ph.D. from Lehigh University in ’89. He was recently featured in The Breeze.

Linda Tomb Hulton, Ph.D., R.N.’78 (Nursing) is a professor at James Madison University. She earned her MSN and Ph.D. from the University of Virginia.

Dan Rudd’06 (Business) is a Sales Manager with Centra Financial Group. Rudd is responsible for recruiting and developing highly talented individuals to join Centra.  He has been in the financial services industry since 2010.  He has participated on the Roberts Alumni Council for the past four years.

Amanda Hagan Rudd ’06 (Social Work) ’07 (Masters of Social Work) is in private practice in Rochester, NY. She has expertise in adolescent and adult mental health, and also have intensive training with the teenage population, most specifically with depression, anxiety and self-esteem/body image issues.

Phillip Schmitt, CPA ’07 (Accounting) is the Director of Finance at Roberts Wesleyan College. Schmitt was previously the Business Operations Manager at the University of Rochester. He has an MBA from the William E. Simon School Graduate School of Business Administration.

Rhonda Rasberry Devan’92 (Accounting) completed the NYC Marathon on 11/5/17.

Mark Mutton ’12 (OM) ‘18 (MSL) is a Project Manager at Eagle Productivity Solutions.

Scott Ensign’00 (Communication) is Vice President of Digital Media at Dixon Schwabl. Ensign is responsible for growing the digital media practice and advanced analytics offering. He was previously with the DAC Group.
