Roberts Named a Top Regional University by U.S. News & World Report

Roberts Wesleyan College landed on the Best Regional Universities category of U.S. News & World Report’s America’s Best Colleges 2017 rankings. It holds the 78th ranking out of 137 colleges in the North region included on the list. Roberts Wesleyan moved up 23 spots from the 2016 rankings.

“Today’s students are looking for a college that cares about them personally and supports them in achieving their educational, personal and professional goals,” Roberts Wesleyan College President Deana L. Porterfield said. “This recognition byU.S. News affirms that Roberts Wesleyan is a valued faith-based college that seeks to challenge students and offers highly personalized education, connecting their heads to their hearts and engaging their hands.” 

Factors that moved Roberts Wesleyan up in the rankings included freshmen in the top 25 percent of their high school class, first-year retention rate, actual graduation rate and small class sizes.

More than 130 four-year, degree-granting institutions are located in New York, the most of any state in the U.S. Dozens of colleges are within the State University of New York and City University of New York systems, two of the largest public university systems in the U.S. Higher education options in New York include many large research universities, midsize colleges, small liberal arts colleges, a couple of federal military academies, and several specialized institutions in urban, suburban and rural environments. Top colleges and universities are located throughout New York, including Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and the state capital, Albany.
