Pastoral Advisory Group Focuses on Diversity

The Pastoral Advisory Group met earlier this week with a focus on Roberts Wesleyan College and Northeastern Seminary's commitment to reflecting God's kingdom and God honoring diversity. The group was formed this past academic year as a resource to assist the Office of Human Resources, as well as Administration, in strengthening the diversity of our job applicant pool for faculty and staff employment opportunities. The group is made up of pastors and ministry leaders from primarily black and Hispanic churches in Rochester. Dr. Douglas R. Cullum, Vice President and Dean Northeastern Seminary, was instrumental in forming the group.

The purpose of the Pastoral Advisory Group is to advise and engage in open and meaningful dialogue around:

  • Methods for communicating job opportunities to a broader base of qualified candidates
  • Roadblocks or obstacles for connecting with applicants
  • Untapped networks or strategies that can be leveraged to connect with a diverse workforce
  • Strategies and opportunities to connect with your congregations and networks
