New Programs That Will Help Roberts Students Thrive

Roberts Wesleyan College Offers New Homeland Security & Applied Intelligence, Sports Management & Marketing, and Online Health Administration Degrees 

Roberts Wesleyan College has been approved by the New York State Education Department to offer new a Bachelor of Science program in Homeland Security & Applied Intelligence, a Bachelor of Science program in Sports Management & Marketing and a master’s degree in Online Health Administration, three of the fastest-growing and most in-demand majors among college students.

The Homeland Security & Applied Intelligence program prepares students for practical and in-demand careers in law enforcement, military and government. Graduates with a bachelors in Homeland Security & Applied Intelligence will be able to use intelligence data to anticipate and prevent organized crime activities, such as terrorism. According to USA Today, homeland security and emergency preparedness programs have increased by 26 percent since 2008.

“This is the only program of its kind in the Greater Rochester area,” said Dr. David Basinger, chief academic officer at Roberts Wesleyan College. “Our graduates will receive a broad liberal arts education integrated with criminal justice. They will become police officers, special agents, law enforcement financial analysts, intelligence analysts, crime analysts and more. We see a strong need for a more holistic approach to educating the next generation of national security and intelligence specialists.”

In addition, Roberts Wesleyan College will offer a degree program in Sports Management & Marketing. This program includes the heavy application of management and marketing theory, principles and procedures for all activities connected to and associated with sports. Graduates of this program apply to diverse curriculums and disciplines, including physical education, business, health and social science, and more. The program is designed to build within the business-related specialization in many sports and sports-related organizations. Roberts Wesleyan assumes at least nine new students per year will join this program.

Last, Roberts Wesleyan’s Master of Health Administration (M.S. online) has also been approved by the New York State Education Department. The program will train students to assume leadership roles in health care fields by ensuring they have the knowledge and skills to become a force for change and improvement in health care services. This professional degree emphasizes applied skills required to advance into management careers in hospitals and health systems.
