Special Collection for the Pirate Toy Fund Drive

 

WHAT:  Roberts Wesleyan College will collect toys for the Pirate Toy Fund at the men’s and women’s basketball games on Friday, Dec. 11. The games will be held in the Voller Athletic Center on campus at Roberts Wesleyan, and students and community members will be in attendance.

Contacts at the event include:

  • Joy Rebstein, program advisor, school of business and Pirate Toy Fund board member
  • Rob McCoy, head men’s basketball coach
  • Resident assistants, leading a contest among dorms on campus to collect most toys

The toy collection has begun and will continue through Dec. 11. The residence hall that collects the most toys will be rewarded with a pizza party in Jan. 2016. In addition, the college will support the toy collection at The Marketplace Mall on Thursday, Dec. 3.

The Pirate Toy Fund supplies toys year-round to over 70 agencies that provide aid and comfort to thousands of children in the Greater Rochester region. Headquartered in downtown Rochester, the organization has distributed nearly 250,000 toys since 1995 and actively pursues new avenues to expand its mission.

 

WHEN: Friday, Dec. 11, 2015

  • 5:30 p.m. - Toy collection opens  (runs through both games)
  • 6 p.m. - Women’s game vs. University of The District of Columbia begins
  • 8 p.m. - Men’s game vs. University of The District of Columbia begins
