Roberts Wesleyan Launches New Website

On May 8th, we launched a completely re-designed website incorporating a new structure and responsive design. In addition, we also launched the campaign website for Legacy 150.

Mobile First

A responsive design allows visitors from all devices (mobile, tablets, laptops, or desktop computers) to view the same content. The content “responds” based on the size of the screen and will adjust to fit the device. This ensures that prospective students and families, alumni, community members, and others will be able to access information and complete their desired tasks easily and quickly.

What’s New?

  • We’ve streamlined our menus to give visitors quick access to the items they’re looking for based on audience identification (Undergraduate, Degree Completion, or Graduate vs the all-encompassing “Admissions”)
  • There are many more photos and icons to tell our story and much less text so mobile visitors can accomplish tasks
  • The homepage image will change daily and positioning messaging will change bi-weekly
  • The layout, navigation, text, images, etc. have been re-designed and re-structured to adjust to a variety of devices
  • Our news function is visual and useable across departments (check out alumni news!)
  • Our calendar is mobile-friendly and available in a day, week, or month view
  • Our site speed is faster so mobile visitors can access it
  • We’ve ensured that the content on the website is external-audience focused
  • The desktop version incorporates fly-out navigation, allowing for promotional advertising
  • The mobile version uses the “hamburger” menu while keeping the top two tasks (Visit and Contact) front and center for all users
  • We incorporated the use of breadcrumbs to provide users with an easy way to navigate through the website

What’s Next?

While the main Roberts.edu and Legacy 150 Campaign sites are responsive, our Library website, the Davison Art Gallery, and our intranet are not. We will be working on these sites over the next year to ensure they match the style of the new Roberts.edu site.
