Mark Peterson to Deliver Winter Commencement Address on Dec.14

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Greater Rochester Enterprise (GRE) President and Chief Executive Officer Mark S. Peterson will deliver the keynote address at Roberts Wesleyan College’s winter commencement ceremony. The event is scheduled to take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, in the Voller Athletic Center on campus. More than 170 students receiving undergraduate and graduate degrees — as well as family members, friends and faculty — will be on hand to hear Peterson present his speech, titled “It’s not over until we win!”

Peterson attended St. John Fisher College and received a Bachelor of Arts in political science. He continued his education at Kent State University, where he earned a master’s degree in business administration. He has an extensive background in regional economic development, financial administration and high-value fundraising. Through his work at GRE, Peterson has positioned the Greater Rochester region as a prosperous destination for businesses, and has helped create thousands of jobs for our community and more than $500 million in new investments.

Peterson is committed to giving back to the Rochester community. A certified fundraising executive since 1992, he has raised more than $120 million for several world-class nonprofit organizations. He serves on numerous nonprofit boards in the Rochester community, including holding the position of chairman of the board for CDS Monarch, and helped found St. John Bosco Schools, an independent Catholic school that has received national recognition.

“We are honored to have Mark Peterson as our commencement speaker,” said John A. Martin, Roberts Wesleyan College president. “He is a shining example of hard work, passion, dedication and motivation, which is what we instill in our students. He is an ideal example to speak to our graduates at Roberts as they celebrate their accomplishments and begin their new life chapters.”

Peterson contributes articles in prestigious publications, including The Economist, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. He is also a host of the local, highly rated radio show “Eyes on the Future,” which has a weekly audience of more than 15,000 listeners and airs at 10 a.m. every Saturday on WHAM1180.
