Roberts Associate Vice President Kelly E. Smith is RBJ "Forty Under 40" Honoree

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Kelly E. Smith, Roberts Wesleyan College’s associate vice president for Government, Corporate and Foundation Relations, has been honored as one of the Rochester Business Journal’s 2011 “Forty Under 40” award recipients.

With nominations from the community and selections by a committee of regional business leaders, the RBJ’s “Forty Under 40” awards recognize 40 men and women under the age of 40 who have achieved professional success and made significant civic contributions to the Rochester community.

“The award – now in its 15th year – has become a prestigious honor,” said RBJ President and Publisher Susan Holliday.  “Hundreds of people are nominated and only the best of the best are recognized.  We’re very pleased to have Kelly Smith among our 2011 ‘Forty Under 40’ award recipients.  Not only has she reached impressive professional heights, but Kelly also gives freely of her time and talent in supporting our community.  It is an admiral combination – one that makes all of us proud.”

“This is a significant and much-deserved honor for Kelly – one that speaks highly of her, and to the high calibre of people we have here at Roberts Wesleyan College,” said Dr. John Martin, President of Roberts Wesleyan College.  “Kelly has distinguished herself not only at Roberts, where she holds an important administrative position, but in the larger Rochester community where she and her husband Shane reach out to people in need.”

As associate vice president for Government, Corporate and Foundation Relations, Smith is liaison to some of the College’s most important audiences.  She has a variety of critical responsibilities – from advocacy before local, state and federal governments, to fundraising among corporate donors, to community relations among key regional organizations.

Kelly and the other recipients will be recognized at a gala luncheon on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center.
