Roberts OM Program Celebrates 25th Anniversary During Homecoming 2011

Menu of Activities Planned for Graduates of One of Nation’s First Accelerated Adult Degree Programs

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – In 1986, Roberts Wesleyan College established one of the country’s first accelerated degree completion programs for adults – a B.S. in Organizational Management (OM, formerly Management of Human Resources) – which to date has graduated more than 2,000 students.  Program Director Penny Cannon says:  “You can barely cross the street in this community without bumping into a Roberts grad in a key position of leadership and influence.”

On the occasion of its 25th anniversary, many of those influential OM graduates will come together later this month during Homecoming Weekend at Roberts to mark the program’s success – as well as their own – at a special Celebration Dinner and other activities.

“Due to schedules and circumstances, we realize many of our OM graduates have not had a chance to ‘properly’ celebrate their achievements,” Cannon said.  “So as part of Homecoming Weekend, when so many members of the extended Roberts family make plans to visit, we’re having a Celebration Dinner where we can reconnect and reflect on the achievements of OM at 25.”

The dinner takes place beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at the Whittier Party House, 88 Whittier Road (just north of Buffalo Road in Ogden), Rochester, 14624.  Special events include a Cohort Reunion Competition, with prizes for highest attendance by class, and the viewing of an OM video with program highlights from the past quarter century.

In addition, OM is entering a float in the RWC Alumni Parade on Saturday, Sept. 24, and is sponsoring a silent auction, with all proceeds directed to the OM Scholarship Fund.  An OM Alumni Tent on campus will serve as the “center of OM activity” throughout Homecoming Weekend, Cannon said.

OM alumni who have not made plans to attend the Celebration Dinner are asked to R.S.V.P. by Monday, Sept. 19.  For more information about all these activities, contact Cheryl Johnson with the OM Program at 585-594-6452, johnson_cheryl@roberts.edu, or www.roberts.edu/celebrateOM.
