The 2011-12 basketball season should have been the best of times for Chelsea Sanders. She was a junior at Division I Maryland-Eastern Shore, leading the Hawks in scoring and starting for a third consecutive year.
But it was the winter of her discontent.
"I was pretty miserable," the Edison Tech graduate says. "I felt like I was more than a million miles from home."
Sanders' dad, Willie Sanders, was extremely ill — first leukemia, then brain cancer — and needed constant care.
