April 5, 2013: DUE TO UNFORTUNATE CIRCUMSTANCES, THIS CONCERT HAS BEEN CANCELED.
The United States Air Force Concert Band is a symphonic wind ensemble that presents more than 100 concerts annually. The Band’s classically-trained musicians perform a wide repertoire, including light classics, popular favorites and instrumental features, as well as orchestral transcriptions and original works for band.
The Concert Band performs regularly for the general public in the greater Washington, D.C., area and throughout the United States on semi-annual concert tours. Additionally, the Band is in constant demand by many of the world’s most highly respected professional musical organizations. Included among these are the American Bandmasters Association, National Band Association, World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles, and more.
The Concert Band is proud to represent the United States as “America’s International Musical Ambassadors.”
The Singing Sergeants, the official chorus of the United States Air Force, is one of the world’s most versatile and traveled choral organizations. The choir performs vocal music from opera, traditional and contemporary choral literature, oratorio, folk songs, pop standards, musical theater and jazz, with an emphasis on the choral music of America.
The Singing Sergeants have appeared before every chief executive of the United States since President Truman. They have performed with the New York Philharmonic, the Philadelphia, Cleveland, Houston, and National Symphony Orchestras, and both the Boston and Cincinnati Pops. Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts have also been venues for concerts by the Singing Sergeants. The chorus has performed in all 50 states and 49 countries, including an historic trip to the People’s Republic of China, where it was acclaimed as one of the world’s leading choral groups. It is through these goodwill tours that the Singing Sergeants bring the people of America and the world together.
