January 23 & 24, 2013: Michael Sylvester, tenor - The RWC Cultural Enrichment Committee and the RWC Division of Music and Performing Arts bring you two opportunities to hear premier operatic tenor, Michael Sylvester. 

January 23: For Wednesday evening’s recital in Hale Auditorium, Michael Sylvester and his accompanist, Rebecca Edie, will perform Schumann's Dichterliebe, as well as English and American songs.

January 24: On Thursday evening, in The Cultural Life Center’s Shewan Recital Hall, Sylvester will present a master class, in which you can watch him at work with vocal students and young professionals, collaborating on operatic repertoire.

Both opportunities are free and open to the public.

About Michael Sylvester:

Named by USA Today as one of the two most important tenors of his generation, Sylvester has sung leading roles in major opera houses all over the globe, including the Metropolitan Opera, London’s Covent Garden, Milan’s La Scala, and so many more.

Among his recordings are the title role in DON CARLO with James Levine (Sony Classics), Adorno in SIMON BOCCANEGRA with Sir George Solti (Polygram video), Calaf in TURANDOT (EMI video), Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 with Robert Shaw (Telarc) and Mendelssohn’s Die ertse Walpurgisnacht (Arabesque).
