Students enrolled in this major will be taught inclusive strategies that will qualify them to teach in a traditional preschool and elementary classroom; a self contained special education preschool and elementary classroom; and an inclusive preschool and elementary classroom. The dual certification offered by this program will greatly enhance a graduate's ability to be employed in a preschool, elementary school and a facility devoted to special education.

The Early Childhood/Special Education program requires a total of 121-141 semester hours, including the following: General Education (35-54 semester hours); Content Core Courses )30-37 semester hours); and Pedagogical Core Courses (49 semester hours).

Specific General Education and Content Course courses are suggested for use in the program depending upon one's concentration. The Teacher Education Division has a comprehensive list of requirements for the degree. Students pursuing a major in Early Childhood/Special Education will also choose one area of concentration.
