BSW students were recently recognized at the Salvation Army’s Annual Volunteer Award Reception. Professor Dave Haller and two students from the program accepted the award. Major James Cocker said the following about the work of the students:
As you know, the holiday season is our busiest season. Not only are we involved with the Red Kettle Campaign, but this is the time when our services are in highest demand. Each November, here at West Avenue, thousands of individuals come to register for our annual Holiday Distribution, where they receive a holiday food basket and toys for their children. It is a week-long process that involves many people. Robert Wesleyan College has an amazing Department of Social Work. Students have been joining us each year to help with registration. They work directly with our clients and treat them in a professional and respectful manner. From the student’s perspective they are gaining on-the-job experience. From our perspective, we are receiving huge and valuable help. We are so grateful for the students and professors at Roberts Wesleyan College who make this possible.
