Faculty News: A year in retrospect (2013)

On March 23, 2013, Dr. Daniel Barta’s new choral work, God is our Refuge and Strength (a setting of Psalm 46), was premiered at the International Schools of China Choral Festival in Tianjin, China. In addition to speaking at the premiere, Dr. Barta presented to faculty and students at three sessions.

Professor Constance Fee spent the month of July, 2013 on the faculty of the Franco-American Vocal Academy in Périgueux, France, where she worked with 46 singers from 10 different countries, teaching voice lessons and French diction, and assisting at opera rehearsals. Participants studied French art songs and opera arias, and performed recitals, concerts, one-act operas and a fully-staged opera with orchestra.

Professors Michael Landrum and Daniel Barta led a Fine Arts on Location course in London last May.  Among our activities were attending many concerts and plays, visiting museums and historical sites, shopping and more shopping, and a side trip to Bath and the Jane Austen Centre.  It was an exhilarating and rewarding experience for all.
Michael Landrum presented a Nocturne Lecture/Recital at the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy in Chicago in July of 2013, and was the featured guest in an interview on WORT (89.9 FM) in Madison, Wisconsin, on August 1.
