Diane Hunger, a native of Germany, received aDiplom-Saxophonlehrerwith distinction from theMusikhochschule Frankfurt/Darmstadtin 2008 and a Masters in Saxophone Performance from SUNY Fredonia in 2009. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Saxophone Performance and Literature with Prof. Chien-Kwan Lin, while serving as his teaching assistant, a Minor in Music Business, and a Certificate in Arts Leadership at The Eastman School of Music. In addition to teaching saxophone at Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, NY, Diane is an Adjunct Instructor for Saxophone at SUNY Fredonia. Previously she taught i.e. at the Musikschule Mainz-Hechtsheim, the Chautauqua Music Camp,the 7th International Saxophone Festival in Szczecin, Poland, and worked as Administrations and Operations Assistant for the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.
Diane Hunger is a recognized soloist, and won first prize in the American Protégé International Competition 2012, because of which she was invited to perform in Carnegie Hall. Furthermore, Diane was a winner in the 2011 Eastman Concerto Competition and has recently received the Performer’s Certificate at Eastman. She was a finalist in the annual Fredonia Concerto Competition in 2009, and national prizewinner in the German competitionJugend musiziertin 2003. Recently she could be heard as soloist with theEastman Graduate Chamber Orchestra, the symphony orchestra from theAkademie für Tonkunst, theFrankfurter Orchestergesellschaft, and theWandsbeker Sinfoniker. In addition, she has played with theMannheimer Bläserphilharmonieas well as theLandes-Polizei-Orchester Hessen.
Diane is active internationally as a soloist as well as chamber musician, having toured Spain with the Linda Bangs Saxophone Orchestra and recorded for the Bavarian broadcast station. Additonally, she was invited to perform at the International Alliance of Women in Music conference in Flagstaff, Arizona, the North American Saxophone Alliance Conference in West Point, NY in 2011 and the World Saxophone Congress in Scotland in 2012. Additionally, she performed at Hartt School of Music, Hartford, Connecticut and at Hogeschool voor de Kunsten, Utrecht, Netherlands. She recently performed a series of concerts in Germany, Poland and the Netherlands with the duoKlang par2and is presently working with composers to expand the repertoire for two saxophones.
Diane Hunger has participated in numerous master classes including those given by the Raschèr Saxophone Quartet, Carina Rascher, Richard Scruggs, John-Edward Kelly, Jean-Marie Londeix, and Claude Delangle.
Her teachers have been Bruce Weinberger, Linda Bangs, Wildy Zumwalt und Chien-Kwan Lin.
