Bio

My professional background includes 37 years with a Fortune 500 company in a diverse set of management and leadership positions. I held positions in a series of line and staff functions, gaining an appreciation and respect for the unique and varied challenges that exist in both arenas. Activities range from developing business strategies, policies, and procedures to leading a diverse team of engineers, material analysts, supervisors, technicians and assembly operators. One of the highlights of my business career involved the role of operations delegate for contract negations involving the company’s largest labor union. Since 2001, I have been involved in adult education as an adjunct faculty member for Roberts Wesleyan College.  I facilitate a series of business and organizational development related courses, with experience in both the classroom and on-line formats.

After relocating to Central Florida in May of 2009, I joined University of Phoenix as a faculty member and became a Lead Faculty Area Chair for Management in the School of Business in August of 2010.  Additionally, I am a Training Consultant for Valencia College providing Leadership and Organizational Development workshops for public and private agencies within the greater Orlando area. Most recently, I joined the Workforce Development team at University of Phoenix, were I develop and deliver professional and skill development workshops for organizations seeking to improve business by investing in their people.

My academic background includes a BS in Organizational Management and MS in Management with a concentration in Strategic Leadership, both from Roberts Wesleyan College. I am a certified facilitator for Development Dimensions International™ Learning Systems and AchieveGlobal™ Leadership and Customer Service Programs. I am also a certified DiSC Trainer. I most recently became a certified trainer for Emotional Intelligence. I am currently pursuing a Doctorate of Management In Organizational Leadership.

I have a passion for facilitating adult learning and enabling others to accomplish their dream of earning a degree and achieving their full potential. The opportunity to facilitate adult learning provides a series of rich and rewarding learning experiences.

On a personal note, while I am originally from the Chicago area, I spent seven years of my youth in Clearwater, Florida before heading back to Illinois and on to upstate New York before settling here in Central Florida. I cherish time with family and enjoy bicycling, fishing, reading and learning. I am a fan of auto racing and have attended racing events in Florida, New York, Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois, California, Michigan, and Arizona. Something unique about me is that I am one of nine children (forth born of five boys and four girls).
