Sammy DeAngelis (He, Him) is a classical percussionist currently based in Rochester, NY.

As a performer of new music, Sammy has played in many ensembles including Eastman’s Musica Nova, Eastman Percussion Ensemble. He has been involved with the premieres of composers such as Michael Burritt, Billy Childs, Matt Curlee, Samuel Adler, and more! He is also a founding member of the percussion trio 3D percussion which specializes in new music collaborations.

Well versed in orchestral playing, he has performed with the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonia Gulf Coast Orchestra, Eastman Philharmonia, and the Florida State University Symphony Orchestra.

Currently, Sammy is an educator at Roberts Wesleyan College as a community school percussion instructor where he teaches various students in drum set and classical percussion. He also offers zoom lessons to a variety of students and is a graduate coach for the Eastman Chamber Percussion Ensemble.

Sammy holds a bachelor’s degree in percussion performance from Florida State University (2021) and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in percussion performance and literature from Eastman School of Music (2023). His primary teachers include Michael Burritt, Dr. John Parks, Mark Hodges, Rich Thmpson and Chip Ross.
