For over thirteen years, I called Asia home. My original move overseas was motivated by a desire to gain experience as a language teacher, before pursuing my master’s degree in that field. I had the pleasure of working in language schools, international schools and universities during that time and gained experience teaching English as well as developing curriculum and language programs.
As I adapted to life overseas, I realized my desire to teach had been supplemented with a desire to open this amazing world to others. Living in another culture opened my eyes to the value of international experiences and the need for teachers who understand those experiences to stand alongside students as they learn how to cope in an educational environment and language of instruction different from their own.
Now that I’m living Stateside, I enjoy bridging that gap for our international students as they navigate the unfamiliar territory of life here.
