Graphic Design Faculty

Roberts Wesleyan College is seeking a Full-time, tenure-track, Assistant/Associate Professor for the Department of Visual Art with the potential for a leadership role within the department (depending on qualifications and previous leadership experience).  Starting date: July 1, 2019. Salary and rank commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Qualifications:  Master of Fine Arts in Graphic Design or closely Related Field. Candidate should be a practicing artist with a willingness to become an integral member of a small, intense program that promotes collegial collaboration and relationship-based instruction.

Specifically: Candidates who demonstrate a synthesis of media scholarship within graphic design practice who prioritize liberal arts as a dynamic learning environment are preferred. Ideal candidates will provide evidence of a comprehensive portfolio in electronic and traditional studios as well as the ability to discuss and explore the visual arts in cross-disciplinary approaches and context. (studio, lab, lecture-hall)

Instructional Responsibilities:  Design for print publication and multimedia presentation, web and interactive design, typography and kinetic typography, communication design -- including motion graphics -- and instruction within the Foundations of Electronic Media courses. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in design, new media, web, and digital imaging software such as Adobe Suite, After Effects, Flash, Illustrator, etc. The ideal candidate will be comfortable assisting students in this discipline with internship possibilities and development of graduating portfolio.
