Director of Library Services

Roberts Wesleyan College invites candidates to apply for a full-time (11-month) Director of Library Services faculty position beginning July 2022. This academic support faculty position is responsible to the Chief Academic Officer. The B. Thomas Golisano Library is housed on our park-like campus in Rochester New York, providing the program with the advantages of a suburban setting within a vibrant metropolitan area.

Roberts Wesleyan College is a comprehensive, Christian college of the liberal arts, sciences, and professions serving approximately 1600 traditional and nontraditional students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.  The College is committed to integrating a Christian worldview with learning in order to prepare thoughtful, spiritually mature, service-oriented people who will help transform society.  Roberts has more than 85 undergraduate and graduate programs, including two doctoral degrees.

Qualifications: Required qualifications include a graduate degree in library or information science from an ALA-accredited program; additional graduate training in library science and/or a graduate degree in an academic discipline required; a strong commitment to the integration of Christian faith and professional practice and a willingness to support and identify with the College’s Christian mission and identity; evidence of familiarity with current and emerging trends and technologies in academic libraries and appreciation for the content and methods of scholarship, and excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.  Successful candidates must have five years of professional-level library work experience and experience in some form of leadership or management role in an academic library setting.  Candidates must demonstrate an appreciation for the principles of diversity and belonging.  Racially or ethnically minoritized candidates are especially encouraged to apply as well as persons from other historically underrepresented groups

Responsibilities: The Director of Library Services oversees a service-oriented team of two librarians and three staff committed to delivery of excellent library services supported by state-of-the-art technology.  Opened in 2007, the B. Thomas Golisano Library features green technology (LEED Silver Certification), ample computer access, wireless connectivity, innovative design, and varied and comfortable study seating.  The Director of Library Services is responsible for the administration and management of library operations, for development of library collections and access services, and for coordination of the library's participation in the institutional strategic initiatives. The Director of Library Services also collaborates with the Vice President and Dean of Northeastern Seminary and promotes an excellent customer service orientation.
