Dean, School of Nursing

Roberts Wesleyan University is seeking an Academic Dean for the School of Nursing.  The Associate Professor/Professor who fills this half-time role will also serve half-time in teaching and/or additional administrative roles. The mission of the School of Nursing at Roberts Wesleyan University is to advance the profession of nursing through education, practice and scholarship within a supportive Christian academic environment. The school has over 200 students in a prelicensure baccalaureate program, an online RN to BS degree completion program and online graduate programs in Nursing Leadership & Administration, Nursing Education and Primary Care Family Nurse Practitioner programs.

Candidates for this position will join a faculty committed to excellence in nursing education in a suburban area of Rochester New York. Responsibilities

  • Support and enhancement of the education of the students; contribute to the campus community; and support the institution and the overall strategic mission of the University
  • Governance of the School of Nursing’s faculty and staff,
  • Serving as a member of the Academic Cabinet
  • Providing effective leadership and direction, and support in establishing, communicating and achieving short and long term goals and initiatives to promote the mission of the School of Nursing and University
  • Facilitating relationships within the School of Nursing and with other campus offices.
  • Oversight of curricular implementation and academic assessment in the School of Nursing
  • Overseeing compliance with NYS Higher Education, Professional Program Accreditation and University Accreditation
  • Interfacing with academic life of the college and supports student activities
  • Overseeing faculty hiring, training, orientation, and evaluation
  • Making final decisions on faculty loading based on input from department program directors
  • Facilitating resolution of complaints and grievances.
  • Developing and providing oversite for School Budget in alignment with the strategic plan
  • Teaching in one or more programs in the School of Nursing

 Qualifications:

  • Earned Doctorate in nursing or related field from an accredited institution recognized by the US
  • Current and unencumbered Registered Nurse license in NYS
  • Strong commitment to the integration of Christian faith and professional practice
  • Exhibit multicultural competence and show strong commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Excellent personal communication, computer skills, and professional manner
  • Creative and innovative
  • Proven leadership skills in higher education
  • Five years of successful academic teaching experience with increasing levels of academic leadership in higher education
  • Consistently present on campus

Salary Range: $80,000 - $92,000 based on experience and rank.
