Accreditation Process

The mission of all teacher education programs at Roberts Wesleyan College is to prepare students to be highly competent, moral, and caring teachers who will effectively educate the increasingly diverse population of students in public and private schools. The accreditation process provides us with this opportunity and guides our efforts.

As we prepare for our site visit from the Council for the Assessment of Educator Preparation (CAEP) in Spring 2020, we are eager to demonstrate our commitment to CAEP’s mission of “advancing excellence in educator preparation through evidence-based accreditation that assures quality and supports continuous improvement to strengthen P-12 student learning.”

The strategic goals of CAEP are:

  1. To raise the bar in educator preparation
  2. To promote continuous improvement
  3. To advance research and innovation
  4. To increase accreditation's value
  5. To be a model accrediting body
  6. To be a model learning organization

As part of the CAEP process, each certification that we offer is also aligned with the Roberts Wesleyan College Teacher Education Program standards, New York State Teaching Standards, and Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (inTASC) Standards.
