Monroe County Adult Threat Advisory Initiative Symposium

On Monday, April 4th, Roberts Wesleyan College hosted the Monroe County Adult Threat Advisory Initiative Symposium sponsored by the newly created Roberts Wesleyan Justice & Security Institute. The symposium was a major step toward creating collaborative holistic strategies to respond to warning signs of intended violence. The symposium was well attended by key stakeholders from Criminal Justice, Mental Health, as well as Campus and corporate security professionals   The objectives of this symposium were to:

 

  • Expose attendees to the principles of threat assessment teams and the scholarship surrounding threat assessment
  • Provide proof-of-concept utilizing the Willamette Valley-Threat Advisory Team as a model  
  • Begin to foster a local environment that is conducive for creating impactful and realistic strategies to protect our communities from perpetrators of intended violence.

 

Several Homeland Security and Applied Intelligence students from Roberts Wesleyan College assisted during the symposium which exposed them to valuable learning and networking opportunities.
