Congratulations to our New Smith Scholars

Michaela Bierly, Forensic Science

Kayla Stuber, Mathematics

Megha Singh, Biology

Katelyn Wagner, Physics

The Math and Science Departments sponsor three Merlin G. Smith Science-Mathematics Teaching Assistantships to entering freshmen each year. Students selected for this program are designated as Smith Scholars. This was designed to reflect Dr. Smith’s initiative “earn as you learn” program.

Each Smith Scholar is guaranteed an average of 8 hours per week of work as a teaching assistant in one of the programs in Biological and Chemical Sciences or in Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics.

Selection is based on high school record, SAT or ACT scores, and an interview with department faculty. Awards are independent of and in addition to any other financial aid.
