Rochester, N.Y. - On March 28th, several students and faculty from the Math and Science Club at Roberts Wesleyan College delivered science kits, food, and uniforms to School #3 in Rochester. For the past four years, the Roberts Math and Science Club have participated in Adopt-a-School, a program sponsored by the American Chemical Society. In this program, students and faculty volunteer once a month in a Rochester City School District fourth grade classroom and teach hands-on science lessons.

This year, the Roberts Math and Science Club adopted all three fourth grade classes at School #3: the Nathaniel Rochester Community School. In order to meet some significant needs of the school, the Math and Science Club, in conjunction with the Joanna Fund, purchased over 150 school uniforms, provided over $1200 worth of nonperishable food items to start a food pantry, and purchased eight science kits for instructional use in grades K-2.

The Roberts Math and Science students have been dedicated to this work and have become positive role models for the students. They look forward to working with School #3 in the years to come.
