Students majoring in mathematics at Roberts Wesleyan College can earn a:
- Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics
- Bachelor of Science in Mathematics
- Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with an Applied Mathematics Concentration
- Bachelor of Science in Adolescence and Middle Childhood Teacher Education in Mathematics.
Students have ample freedom within each degree program to study mathematical topics that meet the requirements of the major and their specific interests and career goals. The mathematics programs at Roberts Wesleyan College prepare students for teaching and for mathematics-related careers or graduate studies in areas such as pure or applied mathematics, statistics, business, and computer or actuarial sciences.
SPECIFICS OF THE MATHEMATICS B.A. DEGREE
Minimum Total Hours: 124
Total Liberal Arts Hours Required: 90
General Education Requirements: Per General Education list (see General Education Division). Exceptions: the lab science and mathematics proficiency requirements are met through the major.
Minimum Requirements: Overall and major GPA of 2.0; no grade less than C- in the major.
Transfer Requirements: See institutional transfer policies.
Application to the Major: Standard institutional major application should be submitted at the end of the sophomore year. A minimum overall GPA of 2.0 is required for acceptance to the major.
Major Requirements: 43 hours with a minimum of 31 hours in mathematics as follows:
- 19 hours of required mathematics courses: MTH 270, 281*, 282, 283, 302, 490;
- 12 hours of mathematics electives 200-level or above, excluding MTH 260-269 and MTH 361;
- 4 hours of computer programming: CSC 140;
- 8 hours of science courses in one discipline: BIO 101 & 102 with labs; CHM 111* & 112 with labs; PHY 101* & 102 or 201* and 202.
* Passing the math placement could be required before enrolling in some introductory courses.

- 3 hours of Real Analysis or Higher Algebra (MTH 403 or 401);
- 4 hours of computer science (CSC 140);
- 12 hours of science: PHY 201*, 202, and 203.
